Mission

Whitehorse Public Library provides the means to transform lives and plays a vital role in inspiring and unifying our community.

The purpose of the Friends of Whitehorse Public Library is to support the work and programs of our library to that end.

Goals and Activities

  • Discover opportunities to work with the Library through fund raising and support activities
  • Develop new fund raisers and access outside funding to assist programming initiatives, facilities improvement and in meeting other library needs
  • Develop and support outreach programming for seniors and the disabled
  • Support the purchase of Book Club Sets, available for loan to all Yukon book clubs
  • Serve as a hospitality committee at various library events

What the Friends Don’t Do:

  • The work of library staff or the Whitehorse Public Library Board
  • Set library policy
  • Directly support Whitehorse Public Library or Yukon community libraries
